Got Hit by a Deer

So I was coming home tonight from the gym. Took a back road home, with very dim to non-existent lighting because it's a little quicker. A deer came out of the right shoulder and BAM! Just missed my passenger side window (that would've been bad) and hit my door instead, even knocked out the side panel from the impact. Took out my side mirror; f'ed up my fender so now it's completely crushed and rubbing on my tires and can't even drive; destroyed my headlight and foglight; and then somehow left a huge dent on my hood too. Oh and plenty of scratches. And hair.

Then he said oops, and ran away. How considerate.

There was an oncoming car too, but I avoided her. So thank God nothing else happened in that respect.

This doesn't sound like a total loss does it? For anyone who's been hit by a deer, how have you dealt with it from an insurance stand point? Do you usually get the work done by your dealership? What about my bolt-ons? Will insurance cover any of that if it's damaged?

Just glad I'm okay and thanking whoever's looking over me. But I feel so bad for my car

Damn, sorry to hear. At least you're okay. It could have been worse. I've close calls, but luckily I've never hit one nor has one hit me. As far as insurance, I'm sure they will cover it. Good luck with all of that.

Sounds very fixable to me. Where's the pics? Glad you're okay and that's the main thing.

I'm glad you're okay too. Whew.

Regarding your bolt-ons though, I don't think it will be covered. I've only had one car totaled in the past and I had Allstate at the time. They told me that in order to cover aftermarket parts I had to have a special/addendum to my standard coverage. All I had was a muffler and a CAI so I didn't bother fighting for it. Good luck!

Glad you are ok it sure could have been worse. You have to have coverage that covers aftermarket parts or they are not covered. I have that coverage on my jeep.

...but yeah man that is always frustrating. Glad you're safe through it all. The car itself doesn't sound like a loss though. Its all cosmetic damage really. pay the 500 deductible and be on your way~

Regarding aftermarket parts, looks like it'll only increase my premium by $20 so I might as well add it on. Below are pics (keep in mind they aren't that good since they were taken by my phone). Just applied a layer of wax over the weekend too. So at least I look good looking bad, right?

Last pic looks like I'm slammed LOL

I'd say you were very lucky the deer hit you there instead of being a split second earlier and going up the hood into the windshield.
It's amazing how much damage a deer can do to a car...

I was really lucky the one time I hit a deer. I was in my K5 Blazer going up a hill in the snow very slowly and a deer jumped out, hit my bumper, fell down in the snow and scrambled to get up and ran away with his hooves slipping all over the road.

Yeah, lucky it wasn't a little shorter (or I wasn't a little lower) or it would've gone through my passenger window.

Moose are worse, seen a few of them get hit back home, 1 had killed the driver, the hooves came through the roof and scooped the back of their head out. So a little fender damage, meh it's fixable.
