Question Carbon Fiber roof wrap: Worth it? Need your opinions.

After seeing some vinyl roof wraps recently, I really got hooked on getting mine done, too, only in CF. A local place I know does wraps in 3M 1080 Carbon Fiber. My Autokits CF mirror covers have a glossy look, so I'm wondering if the wrap can be clear-coated to match the glossy look as well.

I want your opinions on whether it's worth doing. If anyone has pics of a CF roof wrap on their G, please post. Also, does the wrap hold up well against weather conditions and washing with pro-grade shampoo? I use the stuff from ChemicalGuys and Detailed Image.

I'm also debating between the CF or a glossy black wrap along with a Midnight Grille. Any suggestions?

In all honesty I think bare carbon fiber is stupid. Unless it's aero parts.

What do you mean by "bare?" I have the CF mirrors, the FI CF mufflers, so I want to match it up a bit more.

Oh, I see. Yeah, it's subjective. I'm still debating.

I had 3m 1080 CF on my hood for about 2 months. I was able to wash it, dry it with squeegee, newspaper, absorber towel but I took it off this past weekend bcuz it ended up not looking as clean as I had hoped for. If I remember correctly one of my buddies applied clear coat on 3m dinoc and it turned out looking black, the CF design was gone. I would go with gloss black, actually I am, just not anytime soon. I want to get some springs first.

Imo fake cf is idk, just something that dont belong.

I means hey it looks good in this paticular wrap is not bad looking, would have to reserve any judgement, until i see in person.

Just explain why unpainted is stupid.?

3M makes another vinyl called 3M scotchprint CF which is the "Wet" look CF you're looking for as opposed to the Di-noc which is dry. I'm considering getting my roof wrapped to match my CF hood, but I'm not sure what to expect to pay for something like that yet.

Good luck, let us all know what you wind up doing either way

I like the natural CF look. It's a matter of personal taste. Ipity thinks it's stupid and that's his opinion and there's nothing wrong with that.

With that said I think I rather have a black roof over a fake CF roof. Especially if you have other real CF parts. Nothing looks more wrong than having non matching cf weaves.

Personally I think that wrap looks like garbage on the G's. This is a luxury sport, not a riced up civic. That's just my opinion =\

Maybe it's just cause it's stock? If it was an upgraded meaner looking hood then maybe... eh probably not lol...

Thanks for the input. The CF wrap costs around $300 per what the guy told me. Not too bad.

Thanks for all your opinions guys. After this, I'm leaning more towards just a black wrap instead of fake CF. It's true what reVx said.

I'm leaning towards just a glossy black roof to match the Midnight Grille. Plus, it'll look painted. By the way, do any of you know if a 3M black wrap would be the same as what BlueBatmobile uses for his overlays?

Where would I get that? Details please.
I found a vendor here that used to do real CF roof covers, but he is banned and there is no trace of him, so that's out of the question. I wasn't able to find anyone else. Who do you mean?

By the way, there seems to be some confusion. I'm not trying to wrap my hood. Forget that. My roof only.
