Pleasure! Hope I helped as did the others that pointed out this was a vvel issue with tsb and covered under warranty!

As for my oil and please note this is my opinion and objective results before anyone decides to flame on my preference. At the 10k km mark is when I brought the car in for the tsb. At that time the dealer fixed the issue and replaced the usual Dino oil with mobil1. I was actually ready to switch to Motul 300V and drove straight from dealer to my preferred mechanic to do the oil swap. From what I noticed, whn I started the car with the fresh Mobil1 at the dealership as usual it revved up to about 1800 rm and gradually dropped to the 1100 rpm which is what I wait for before switching to drive. After the swap to Motul, the car now only hits 1500 rpm and drops to 1100 much sooner. I find the engine is overall smoother and more responsive. Also as a full synthetic I have more time between oil changes.

Again - my opinion and could be pure placebo and speculation.

Good luck with the issue and please keep us posted!

Any update?

I was hoping to get an update before calling to make an appointment for my car, but I called today because I just want to get it addressed. The service reception guy was kind of playing dumb about this being strange and asked if I had recently changed my oil.

Yeah, everything was fixed. When I came there, the noise wasn't on so they say I must show it to them. So I took one of their tech guy and he drove the car. After couple of blocks of the test drive, it came on. They fix it and now it is running great, no more of the diesel engine!

So what was the actual problem? I have been fighting this noise back and forth with my dealership for a long time now and they can't come up with the culprit. I have an 08 as well and the noise is the exact same thing. They did the TSB for the bank 2 VVEL actuator noise whatever it still was there. They went in checked valve clearances everything was to spec... replaced covers and seals noise is still there.... I thought that it was the fuel dampers but they say that's not it.

I can't stand the noise and I'm running out of warranty very soon so I would like this gone before this happens.

Thanks for your input.

What was done to fix it? Did they perform the tsb?

Hey guys does this sound as if its the Fuel Damper ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cBH...ature=youtu.be

It continues to happen even when the engine is at proper operating temperature. Even more so after a bit of heavy driving.

Thanks.

I have the same knocking. I took it in twice, they performed TSB and it came back. I just live with it. I heard it's harmless.

PURGE VALVE!!
It was the bloody Purge Valve! Once I had that replaced + regular maintenance; it's been running as good as new.
Here's how to check.
Get you car up to normal operating temperature.
With the car on & in park, pop the hood
Begin to give it gas ever so slightly up to 2,000rpms (ticking sound should increase along with the rpms)
If you hear a clicking/ticking sound keep reading... If not idk what's wrong with your car.
Next stick your hand behind the throttle body on the passenger side, there you will find the purge valve.
While placing your hand on the solenoid feel for the vibration as it ticks.
If the sound and vibration are in unison, congratulation. It's time to replace you Purge Valve.
Technically it is suppose to make a slight ticking sound, but if yours is abnormally loud as mine was, it time to have it replaced.

As of the past couple days, I've developed this chugging-ticking noise. My oil looks fine, the noise has come as the days have gotten hotter.

My warranty is either about to run out, or has run out already. The car was purchased in July of 2010. Will Infiniti perform TSB fixes even while the car is out of warranty?

Sometimes, but usually, some sort of minimum labor charge will apply.
