Advice Please, new G buyer

Hey guys,

I'm looking at a buying a new G37xS coupe. I've been doing some research and a lot of information comes up on the lag issue regarding the 7AT. I didn't really notice any problems with it on my test drive, but based on all the different forums (including this one) and the TSBs that have been put out on it, it is a problem. Could you guys give me some advice on how noticeable of an issue it really is? Is it really as bad as some bloggers make it out to be? Would you purchase your G again if you knew about the 7AT issue beforehand?

I appreciate the advice on this. Thanks.

I would as I really think most people can't figure out the 7at. It definately doesn't work like the 5at or 4at of any vehicle I have owned. Once I figured out the tranny I love it and would do it all again. I am not sure what lag you are talking about except there is a short lag when you shift manually with the paddle shifters between hitting them and the car shifting. This really isn't any different from most cars on the market as well as most auto trannies that have a manual shift mode. As far as that goes the manual shifting works fine once you figure it out. No its not like the Audi/VW/Porsche system. But it does work fine. I can go on but I am sure you will hear all the folks chime in now that hate the 7AT, like I say the ones that have fugured out the tranny like it, the ones that haven't don't.
