a/c contributing to less power?

hey guys, i dont know much about cars and this may all be in my head but does anyone know if having the a/c on contributes to less power? i feel like i have less power while accelerating when i have the a/c on

Of course. When the A/C is on, you now have another component to power. (The compressor)

iirc, the a/c compressor will shut off during wot.

Perhaps a bit more of power is lost. But IMO it’s well worth it to drive in cool comfort, unless beating every punk at a red light is more important to you.

I just turn it off. Usually merging on the HW. But yes it will pull HP,

The AC shuts off at WOT really cause I can feel a drag also om mine..

Their are AC mods that can be done if this is an issue for you. The first step would be to upgrade your alternator to avoid the ubiquitous dead battery issues. Then switch your compressor to be an electric compressor. As one pulley would drop off the belt, I bet it would have to swapped out, also.

This is a common ecomod that results in less vampiric power loss, but usually doesn't have a great ROI, unless your AC is out and not under warranty. (If this assumption is wrong, let me know!)
