Out of the hole launch?
I have a 2009 g37x auto. From a dead stop what is the best way to launch the car. Besides putting the vehicle tranny in "DS" mode and switching the tracking off, is there any other things to launch the car quicker? Do some people apply the brake to get the revs up a bit? If so, is that bad for the tranny? Just want to see how everyone launches their cars, and what techniques they use

left foot on brake. right foot on accelerator pedal. get it to as high as possible without letting wheels break out. when you want to go, release brake pedal and mash accelerator.
experience: i own a g37x coupe 7at
To answer your tranny question, yes its probably bad for the tranny. any stress you put on the car is most likely not good for the car. that being said, just be responsible and you shouldn't have any major issues. if you do it every time you're at a stand still, you might see some tranny issues quickly. if you do it for fun here and there, you'll most likely be fine.

Mystakin, thanks for the advice. I will have to try it soon. Makes total sense, I'm just scared to break things. What rpm do you rev it to when you usually release the brake?

no problem man. i can usually get up to 3-4k without have the tires start to spin. youll be able to hear your tires spin if you rev too far, and at that point you can say thats too much. feel it out, you'll have a cleaner pull if you feel comfortable and in control

As for breaking things, I highly doubt that there's enough driveline shock from power braking a 5 or 7 AT. It's nothing like dumping the clutch at 5 grand with a 6MT. But there is still some risks, so I wouldn't worry much about it but it's not something I would do every day.

I can't get wheelspin with my g37x until it's hitting the gas on a turn.
Also when I brake launch, I can only rev up to about 2k, if I keep pushing the gas after that I the "brake override" bs kicks in and stops further revving...
So how do u guys rev past 2k on an AT??

yeah they can "chirp". idk if its just the backs, or all 4 that start the chirp, but something definitely gives out if you rev too high when hold the brake down.
i don't have my car right now so 3-4k was what I thought I used to rev it to. Will try it again once I get my car back to give an exact number at which rpm I rev up to while still at a stop. I am pretty sure its over 2k though.. 2k seems rather low.
