Ouch! I'm very disappointed in my 16.4 mpg...but I'm doing all city driving and driving pretty aggressively. Not my fault my car loves to

op,

if you noticed the rattle after hitting a pot hole, you could have dinged/bent the brace that sits under the exhaust. (i don't think it actually does much) but since you mentioned that you hear it everytime you hit some sort of bump, it could be your exhaust hitting that.

Now that you say that, I remember that it sounded like my exhaust hit the ground, but when I looked under my car I couldn't tell what happened... I used to have a 2000 Mustang, things were much easier to spot since there wasn't much down there lol... But I think that could be the problem... I just don't know how to tell the dealer that I hit a pothole and tell them to check my exhaust because that's what I think happened... What do you think I can tell them?

It sounds like I'm having the same issue as you, however my G is a 2008 with 26k miles, has been lowered, and has a full aftermarket exhaust system. I bottom out on certain driveways and speed bumps, but I don't remember specifically when the sound started for me. I just brought my G to the dealership yesterday and had a buddy of mine that works there look into it. He couldn't get it on a lift but he used a stethoscope to listen and found it was coming from the exhaust near the flex couplers. I will be putting it up on a lift to look myself in a couple days. Let me know if you find out anything and I'll let you know if I found out anything as well.

So I got my G on a lift and discovered the source of my rattling noise. I was missing a nut to one of the screws on the flange joint that connects the headers to the cats. The screw had managed to remain in its hole but was rattling under vibration. Got a new nut on there and no more noise!

Well before I have 18.8 mpg. Even since I reset the fuel economy it went down to 16.4 mpg. Any idea??

Interesting! I'll have to check mine. Is it accessible without a lift?

After taking my 2011 g37x to the dealer five times to find a rattle, I read somewhere about the emergency brake cable being the problem. I suggested they check and bingo. They adjusted the cable from the pedal and the rattle is gone. Thanks to whoever made that post.

Best advice - pump the beats on the radio rattle goes away. Its like 95% mental... trust me I am sensitive to rattles like most of you.
