Question Regarding 30K Mile Service

Good afternoon,

My local Infiniti dealer charges $580 for the 30K Mile Service which I think is really high. I checked with a local garage who quoted me $150 to do the same service. My questions are:

1 - Is there any reason why I would benefit from having the service performed by the dealer as opposed to the garage?

2 - Should I use this opportunity to switch to synthetic motor oil?

Thanks

Michael

I just did it myself and yes I switched to synthetic oil as well. The cabin air filter is a bitch to get to but once you get the glove box off it comes out easy. My dealer wanted almost 1K to do the 30K check. I said go pound salt LOL. Good thing I am a mechanic

Still high but you will need diff oil, trans fluid, coolant, oil change, air filters and cabin filter etc etc .. should run you about 190$ parts alone.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I didn't think that the differential or transmission fluids were replaced at 30K miles. Should I plan to have those done as well?

Also, should the mechanic be able to get to the cabin air filter without damaging the interior trim or glovebox? It seems like it could be a pain for someone not familiar with Infiniti.

Thanks,

Michael

The mechanic just told me that he is getting the OEM engine air filters, micro cabin filter and oil filter all from a local Nissan dealer. He told me that the part numbers are the same as from an Infiniti dealer. Is this true? I just want to be sure.

Thanks,

Michael

I just picked up my car from the mechanic. Total charge for 30K mile service including switch to Mobile 1 synthetic, and OEM engine, oil and cabin filters was $273 including tax. I saved $300 as compared to having the same service done at the local Infiniti dealer! I'm very pleased

Hopefully it was a good decision to switch to synthetic motor oil.

Regards,

Michael
