2011 Center Console Mod
Hi all. Just received a 2011 G37x coupe. Awesome car. Has anyone attempted to wrap the plastic chrome rails along the center console in CF. or is there a carbon trim available? I'm not sure if the rails are attached to the aluminum overlay around the shift handle.
Anyone have any experience with this? I think the shiny chrome plastic looks a bit ricey. Thanks.

Took the plunge and did the wrap using 3M DI-NOC in graphite and 3M 1080 M21 Scotchprint Matte Silver. Both are very easy to work with. The whole process is very time consuming if you're a perfectionist like myself. The most difficult part was getting the wrap around the "shift lock" button which is why you see most wraps covering it. However, be warned that you'll still see the silhouette of the button underneath, and, IMO, kills the factory look. The void for the button is very small and there's little room for error without having to cut a whole new piece. My suggestion would be to lay the wrap over the shift bezel and wrap the "shift lock" space first. If you mess up and an pull a new piece, you wouldn't have wasted time wrapping the rest of the trim first. It took me 5 tries to get this piece just right but the end result is worth losing the "sticker look."
I've included to pics of the completed wrap and will add some more once it's back in the G. Lata!

Hey man. Thanks for the feedback. I think it looks much better than the chrome. Now I'm debating whether or not to wrap the aluminum console trim over the radio and climate control buttons. The small openings on for radio buttons 1 through 6 look very daunting to wrap!

im about to try this. i love the look and had similar opinions on the chrome/plastic as you. if you dont mind me asking, how much did the vinyl cost? im debating wrapping it in vinyl cf (the 3m di-noc stuff), or wrapping it in real cf.. i kind of like the glossy look of real cf more than the matte look of vinyl, but the time and ease working with vinyl just makes the job that much quicker and cleaner lol
