Hi all. Just a quick update. I decided to go for a minimalist look. No need to have the PRND since its already displayed on the dash. The Di-NOC was lifting around the edges (even with primer) of the number buttons so I removed it from the radio/climate trim. I replaced the graphite DINOC on the trim piece under the radio/climate trim, shift plate cover and the surrounding aluminum trim with the similar-color anthracite 1080 scotchprint. No lifting so far.. The 1080 was designed for advanced industrial application and sticks better than the DINOC. Wish I knew this earlier! Now I just need the M sport shift **** ...

Hey man. It's the 1080 Scotchprint CF vinyl from 3M. The color is anthracite and is basically the same as the graphite DI-NOC. The film is slightly thinner than the DI-NOC but it's made for tougher applications whereas the DI-NOC is suited for flat surfaces. The 1080 definitely holds better. Whereas the DI-NOC would eventually lift around the edges, especially during hot days (even with primer), the 1080 stays put.

As far as the glossy attribute given to the 1080 series as opposed to the matte Di-NOC series, the difference is negligible. The sheen of the 1080 is very similar to the DI-NOC having a slightly glossier appearance. It turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise considering 3M's "glossy" designation.

Due to it's slightly glossier appearance, the 1080 more realistically resembles CF than the matte DI-NOC and without the ricey-shiny-plasticy look. It definitely has a high quality CF resemblance. I was actually reluctant to purchase the 1080, thinking it would look cheap, but needed an alternative to the unreliable DI-NOC. After reading many posts about similar problems with the DI-NOC as opposed to the 1080, I pulled the trigger.

Didn't use any primer and so far so good. If you do need added adhesion, elmer's glue stick works just as well (if not better) than primer-94.

Now I'm just debating on whether to keep the gear indicator (PRND) on the shift plate hidden or leave it exposed. I'm kinda digging the minimalistic look though. Maybe I'll find a small Infiniti badge to occupy the space ...
