Rock chips along door edge?!
Noticed this about 2 weeks ago and had to touch it up because it looked like crap! Anyone else getting rock chips along the edge of their door?! It looks like awful and I wanna get it fixed but it's leased.

Yeah I have a couple of chips there as well. It happens because our doors are not exactly flush with the rear quarter panel, and so the air flow hits that ridge and you get rock chips there. I would just touch it up to prevent rusting, it's not worth repainting IMO. As well, if you fix it, it will just come back again unless you put in some 3M rock guard there.

That's really strange, I don't think those are rock chips though. Maybe check to see if your doors properly aligned and try different ways of closing it and see if it touches that part of the body? IDK that's something I've never seen. Maybe you've accidently hit that part of the body while sliding in your car?

They don't sit flush? are you sure?? I mean, its INFINITI, not some cheapo car, they should be flush, mine is. Do you have any pictures from further away? I'm really curious.

our sedans have a factory vinyl covering in the lower right corner of the rear doors for this reason. are these chips on your coupe located near the lower right corner of the door at the start of the rear fender. i was driving on a gravel road and i got a couple chips above the vinyl one time. i can hardly notice them now that i have the touch up paint applied to them though.

Chips On Driver Door Edge
I also have this problem. 2011 G37S, Lapis Blue, Navigation.
The dealer says it's from hitting objects with the door, but I sincerely doubt it.
This is the first car I've ever had with this problem. Were I a habitual offender, my cheapo Kia I once had would not have any paint left on the door whatsoever, but it was pristine when I gave it to my son, and it still is.
I have to give this leased car back in a little over a month. They can charge up to $1000 for something like this.
I believe a recall is in order!
