Great sound only from 2500-4500 RPM?
It's Friday, almost did a burnout leaving work. Had the windows open 'cause is freaking hot here and something just bothered me about the car:
Can anyone tell me why the VQ37VHR sounds great from 2500-4500 RPMs but then starts sounding like a truck engine to the top of the range? Is it the VVEL? Most engines sound better as the revs build. Why dammit

Well, I might get flamed for that but I think many engine nowaday sounds like crap. I test drove the S4 and S5 and IMHO, the VQ sounds x1000 better. People need to stop thinking v8 = gawdly sound, just really hear it when you push it. THe S4 had a subtle but fun supercharger sound though but the S5, boredom.
If I'm perfectly honest, I love the VQ sound but Nissan/Infiniti should refined their engine more. I'm biased since I came from a 09 TL (Honda/Acura) which I found the right combo for me: just adding a Jpipe (aftermarket) did a wonderful increased in tone . It really began to sound like a race car-like above 4000 RPM and at 5000+ it was delightful. Happy times indeed.
The good thing is that 2,5k - 4,5k is your everyday driving rev range when cruising on the highway or accelerating, so you will be able to appreciate the VQ tone quite a bit!
My 2 cents of course and everybody has a right to disagree.
