I personally would like mine to be 20, but I'm a bit paranoid about the law. Yeah, the cops around here don't seem to give a squat about tint darker than 35 right now, but all it takes is some jackass to shoot a cop and then the law comes back in full force locally (hefty fine here).

Seeing at night/tint
No problems seeing at night with the 35% tint. But I should have been clearer in my post (no pun intended). I said "all around" and in truth the windshield was not tinted aftermarket. Unless you have medical documentation and a special plate, here in IL we can't tint the windshield at all, excluding that 5 or 6" gradated strip across the very top that comes stock. I even asked my shop if we could throw on the barest little film on the front and he would not do it.
I *do* keep a copy of the IL tint law in my glove box along with a copy of the work receipt showing I have 35% just in case some donut-gobbler decides to pull me over and meter. I'm ready for 'em!
Have fun! Patti

Thread rises from the dead . . .
i have 35% on my front windows.. its barely worth it. not as dark as i wanted and you can see right through on a sunny day. 50% wont even be noticeable; the only reason you would want 50% is if heat reduction is your only concern. if looks mean anything, dont go above 35%. there is a tint thread on here with a bunch of tinted g's. take a look and you'll see how light 35% is, and why no one really does 50% lol

Quick question related to window tinting. I really like the way the G37 looks when tinted, but I remember how crappy one of my previous cars looked when the tint began to bubble after 4-5 years. Is tint bubbling to be expected after 5 years? If so, can it be replaced?
Thanks,

#2 Like my Father used to say, "I cannot afford to buy the cheapest".
Look for a installer that installs Formula One tint.
