surprised this hasnt been closed yet lol

i like the stop being a douche thing and not run red lights.

I like to drive with a little bit of a lead foot as much as the next person but why run the red light? just cuz the camera cant see you doesnt mean theres a cop there that can use HIS EYES that can see through anything short of a solid cover and chase your *** down just as easy.

Red light camera's are going up like crazy in NY as well and it amazes me how many people still blow the light knowing theres cameras everywhere. At night the flash lights up even the largest intersection like a fireworks factory.

Long story short - +1 stop being a douche

Well there is a BIG problem actually the other day my wife was about to cross an intersection and the light turned yellow which her options at the time was to slam on the brakes and I do mean slam on the brakes or take the yellow so she took the yellow. Then after a few weeks later she received a letter with a picture of her car been in the middle of the interstate crossing and you can also see the light on yellow also a BIG azz fine for 150.00. I thought this new thing was just to get people running red lights and not yellow I'm not saying that you should run a yellow but in this case there was no way to slam on the brakes and end up to a complete stop in the middle of the intersection or get hit with a car from behind.

When we first got the cameras here, there was a similar problem with the timing of the camera's. A lot of people were getting flashed immediately when the light turned yellow. A bunch of people complained and the timers were adjusted so that only those crossing the sensors as the light turned red got the tickets. This did take about a year of this occurring before it was changed though. Albeit, drivers just learned not to run the yellow lights either and just anticipate it when approaching the section. Unfortunately there really isn't any way the drivers could fight anything. At least here the camera tickets are simply citations and do not count against points on your license or reported to your insurance company, but i know some states do report them.

Well red light camera's are being fought as unconstitutional as they charge people without the normal legal process. Also i was down in south florida driving an S550 and the cameras went off even though i stopped at the line. It was at night so as other have said the strobes are like freakin fireworks! So there definatley is an issue with installing these cameras and the time it takes to install them properly. Remember all these govermental jobs dont go to the BEST product, but in fact the LOWEST bidder.

But yes, don't be a d-bag and run red lights or skip tolls.
yeah, hitting something exotic in the back would def **** me off more if he slammed on his breaks and didnt give me a chance to stop properly just to avoid going through a yellow... I cant imagine that there is so many people running reds over there that its a statewide issue

agreed on all points...

i ride a bike as well, and my biggest fear is cruising through an intersection and some dbag running a red and slamming into me. just don't run the red lights and thats it.

i'll agree that some of these camera systems are screwed up... and it does feel like "big brother is watching you" (1984) but at least it puts things into perspective and people are much more cautious about running the red.

but my favorite is when someone gets a ticket with the picture of their car, running the red... and a link to a video of them running the red, but they swear they didn't run it... gotta love it.
