What would you do if it happened to you?
Long story short, buddy dinged the crap out of my passenger door (my only ding) and apologized, but offered no help when I mentioned getting it fixed.
The details: I had a buddy in town recently. We loaded up the G with my girlfriend and another friend and went to grab a burger at our favorite spot before heading to Temecula for wine tasting. After burger munchage I went and grabbed the G and pulled up in front to let the crew in.
As I pulled up to the front on a busy street, not much room and a line of newspaper vending machines on the passenger side I thought, "eek, I should tell him to watch it as he opens the door." Then I thought, "no, don't be that guy, he knows, he likes his car too."
So we load everyone up and hit the road. I stopped for gas on the way. My buddy pops out to get the girls something inside and I start to pump. Then my girlfriend says, "babe, did you know he hit your door when he was letting us in the car?" ^%$#&*@)(*&#&&#&#&#*#&^#*!!!!!
So, sure enough, a deep dimple ding right on the left side of the door handle. When he came back from inside he started to explain. Blah blah blah, bad excuse (I heard: I'm a dip shat).
So, I say something like, "well I have a guy that has done other body work for me, I will have to get a quote." He offers nothing! He apologized somewhat sincerely, but didn't offer to help.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
- Get a quote and send it to him?
- Just try and forget? (You know that is impossible, my G is literally flawless except this fuggin ding).

If he's a close friend, I'd just cover for the damages on my end. I am sure if he's a decent guy, he would at least offer to cover for the repair cost. Either way, just take it to a PDR specialist. They can take most dings/dents for about $50. I've had door dings removed in the past and they really do some magic to remove those dings. I've had some mean dings in the past but it looks good as new once they're done. I know a great PDR guy in South Orange County. He does legit work at a great price. PM me if you want his info.

I used to get pissed but now, I except the fact that my car will get dinged whether I like it or not...it's a daily driver. Depending on the cost to fix it, tell him he owes you a bottle.
