Which model year G35/37 should I buy?
Hi all,
This is my first post here, so forgive me if I leave anything out. I'm looking for some buying advice.
I've been a very happy Nissan 350Z Track owner for 6 years, and I'm ready to upgrade to something a little more luxurious. I've been a big fan of the Nissan platform and styling and think the Infinity G-series will be a good fit for me.
So the question I have is, what model/year should I consider? When buying a car, I usually like to get one with low miles that's a year or two old. I like the idea of some other sucker taking a hit on the depreciation instead of me.
I believe I'd settled on the Infiniti Coupe Journey, I'm just not sure if I should stick to a G37, or maybe get a good deal on a recent G35.
Is there any issues with the older model?
Are there any must-have features of the new one?
Are there certain years I should avoid?
I'm looking for:
1) Comfortable ride, inside and out
2) High-tech (Bluetooth, iPod dock, navigation, etc.)
3) Great stereo
4) Great performance/reliability
I'm planning on spending around $30K (+/- $5K) but could be talked into spending more if I need to. Can someone rattle off what the key features of the G37 are over the G35?
Thanks for any advice you all have, I appreciate it!

definitely get G37.. The interior is so much better than G35. i would get good preowned 2010 G37S 6Spd if you want to spend around 35k. The reason i said 2010 is because of the HD navigation screen, USB port, DVD playback etc.. 08-09 don't have those features. So start looking for 2010 G37S with 6spd and report back. Goodluck!

Thanks for the responses!
Sounds like I definitely want to go with a '10 (I want the high-tech extras). It's a shame though, because it's gonna be harder to find a used '10 than '08-'09.
I'm tired of driving MT (have been for the last 30 years). From what I've read, it sounds like the Premium Package, Navigation Package and Sports Package are going to be requirements.
I wonder though, I've had my fun with the Z and nowadays I'm looking for a little softer, quieter ride. How critical do you think the Sports Package is? I see you get 19" rims, a stiffer suspension, better brakes ... I wonder if I could live without that. I guess I'll see what's available out there. I definitely like the more aggressive styling.
Thanks for for feedback, I'm really looking forward to this!

In your price range your not going to get an 2010 loaded with sport, prem nav etc... Imo.. your looking at an 09, which I like better actually, second model year, 7 at, still has the better looking guages with red, again imo... and you will be able to afford a low mileage car, sport, prem pack nav, spoiler, ipod etc... good luck! also not to mention better looking wheels

Definitely go for a 2010+ G37.
I had a G35 before this car, and while I do love the car, it just never seems to amaze me if you know what I mean.
While the G37 on the other hand amazes me at every corner. The difference from the G35 is like night and day. More power, better exterior/interior, better exhaust note, more comfortable, smoother ride, tons of fun gadgets, and pretty much everything else.
Oh and I would recommend adding a bit extra cash for the 2010. I mean I would do it just for the improved/better looking interior alone.

The bbk is worth the sport package alone. Seriously, the non sport brakes look pathetic. The LSD is a Crap *** viscous coupling design. Even the genesis comes with a torsen ffs! I can't believe Nissan cheaped out with a VC LSD. But a VC LSD is still much better than an open diff that's for sure.
The rest of the stuff on the sports package is marginal at best. The seats are a bit uncomfortable but you can live with that.

Thanks for all the great advice! I pulled the trigger this week and got a nice 2009 G37 Coupe Journey with the Premium, Nav, Sport and Tech packages, and the rear spoiler. African rosewood accents, lighted kick plates... I'm really happy with it.
I just learned though that I can't stream my bluetooth music in the 2009 because they didn't support A2DP until 2010!! AArrrggghhh..... oh well. And the iPod adapter is pretty wonky and forces my to shove my phone in a tiny cubby hole where I know I'm going to forget it and get caught somewhere without my phone on me.
I can't believe how far behind the computers in cars are. They're REALLY clunky and unusable. Like Windows '95 or something. When are they going to catch up? I wish Apple or someone would develop a great computer system for cars.
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE ADVICE, COULDN'T (WOULDN'T) HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YA!
