Ebay Anyone??
Just curious on where you guys stand on buying "non-name brand" parts off of Ebay. I have been looking on ebay just out of curiosity, and some of the things that I am considering buying for my car are sold there, sometimes cheeper but are not backed by well known names, and I was just curious what you all think about that. I have used ebay in the past for previous car upgrades; my to Chevy Caprice...my Nissan Maxima, and I never had a negative experience but the G is on a different level than both of those cars. I was wondering if any of you have used Ebay for non-namebrand parts and are happy with the upgrades. Pics would be nice if possible.

Yeah bulbs are not a problem...I wouldn't think twice about getting something like that from Ebay...but I mean more major stuff..Like CF hoods, CF trunks, spoilers, splitters...things that will affect the appearence of the car.

eBay itself is not bad. Some of the sellers on eBay are bad. You can find some nice things on eBay. However, the ratio to quality versus poor quality is probably 1 to 1,000 on eBay. As for the no-name brands on eBay, I would stay away. Of course, that's just my opinion. There are many people/members who don't have a problem putting non-tested, non-proven, no-name brand parts on their cars... It's your car. Your decision.
You can always go back to the maxim, "You get what you pay for."
I will just add that the G37 is a $40,000+ car, not a 1998 Honda Civic. If you're going to modify it, do it right.

I'm not looking for an argument over something stupid, like the merit of eBay, but I use eBay occasionally. I have well over 100 transactions and a feedback score of 100%. If I listed a name brand part on eBay, you guys wouldn't buy it from me based on your theory that "eBay sucks"?

The potential of eBay is great, but the number of shady sellers to honest people is like 10,000:1 (I understand this is somewhat of a generalization). I will never risk getting crappy stuff on eBay when I know plenty of sources to get the parts I need at great prices and I KNOW I won't get screwed.

It truly depends. Some things I'd buy for my car from eBay, some things I wouldn't. You must also keep in mind who you're buying from; there are a number of honest dependable vendors who sell parts on eBay that I completely trust, even on large purchases.
Beware of parts that are easily counterfeited. Beware of sellers claiming to sell well known premium name brand parts at a price that's far lower than it should be.

I wouldn't buy a no name brand performance item for the car though, but many people sell reputable name brand products on eBay for less than others.

I couldn't agree more. There are many genuine sellers and many shady sellers so do your research and it will pay off. Up here in Canada, Infiniti parts are ridiculously over priced so I prefer to spend a few minutes researching before buying from any eBay seller.
