Sorry to have to bring this to you, but it's not just NY. Same thing with Philadelphia, Chicago, Miami, etc. There was just a post on this last week or the week before where they steal rims in Florida and before that NJ.
How it works is you have nice quiet residential areas within close proximity of the crappy neighboorhoods + people willing to buy stolen parts. Then there is the lack of any decent locks being manufactured by companies like Gorilla and the fact that Infiniti uses wheels with very particualr types of lug nut design which helps them sell wheel locks maybe, but does not help us protect our wheels. Lastly, someone has definitely slipped the master keys to the theives.
There was also a huge problem with xenon headlights being stolen from maximas, lexus RX and acura TL just a few years ago. THousands of dollars of damage to cars just to have blue headlights in a honda civic.
This is why law abiding citizens should be able to carry firearms and protect what's theirs. Let's all move to Texas. Oh wait, then it will be just like NY

Infiniti of manhasset has had wheels stolen from their own cars in their own parking lot more than once. They are the ones that told me that they suspect that the theives have the master keys. They could have been a little more understanding...
Yes we have the right to keep and bare arms. but its up to the State to regulate when you can carry them and what the penalty is for using them. In NY you can only shoot to protect a human life (with some exceptions that are not applicable to stolen wheels that is).
Tommy, so did you have wheel locks on or not?
