I think this is just because someone really want to make their car stand out from the rest, i'm not a fan of the color, but no denying that it is very unique. Since i am actually chinese, i will translate a bit of the story.
This is the first 24k gold plated car in china, and it is a show project done for a customer who wanted something different and special. apparently is is a very complicated process and took a long time to complete. a lot of factors have been taken into consideration when doing this project, such as weather, air flow, heat, and maintenance issues.
The interesting thing is, this car was completely de-badged and has no license plate on it, also they parked it illegally beside the street. hence the picture of it on the back of a flat-bed with cops beside it.
