brand new oem spolier painted $125!?

No, it used the factory holes that were already there from the chrome piece that comes on the trunk.

the oem spoiler obviously being wind-tested makes you drill holes on the outsides to stop this 'down-force' effect from pealing the edges off.

call me a pessimist, or not, but i dont see this spoiler lasting long. i can tell you from personal experience and basic physics- that spoiler collects A LOT of wind pressure in the center since thats the highest point on it. the spoiler will want to roll back slightly naturally, thus forcing the 3M tape on the outsides to begin to lift up gently. that lift will eventually grow, and either extreme temps or just enough wind pressure and the edges will break free.

I got the OEM spoiler from the dealer with the light. I asked the dealer to disconnect the third light in the window since it looked dumb. I was afraid that they would not be able to (or want to) disconnect that light because it would create a "fault" and I'd have a light on the dash. Well, I am happy to report that it has been several weeks and no problems.

U really didnt have to drill anything? I see that u have a backup camera, do u have tunnel vision when backing the car with that spoiler?

FWIW, i have a third-party spoiler on my sedan that i got from eBay (which apparently CarID also sells) -- $110 shipped and painted.
Installed in September of '09. Been through crazy hot Texas summer, ridiculously cold weather (for Texas), a little snow and track speeds of 130+mph. It's on there snug and tight with no issues whatsoever.
Just because it's third-party and/or sells for a more reasonable price, doesn't mean it's junk.

Folks, the OEM spoiler DOES require you to drill 4 new holes, the holes left over from the chrome lip don't come close to having a wide enough spread to secure the ends of the spoiler. The largest holes you have to drill are 19mm and it also uses double sided tape as well.
