Dang, so you plan on paying close to 17 G's just to rent a car.
Sorry, but that sounds like a horrible financial decision.
I would rather use that money for a down payment and eventually own the car.
Of course I'm the type of person that drives a car for 10-15 years.
Last stop for my car is pretty much the junk yard.

Not everyone keeps there car for 10-15 years, and keeping a car that long incurrs many downsides.
Lets say you both went into the dealership on the same day, he leased the car that you purchased. In the next 10 years he will have to renew his lease 3 times, if he comes into basically the same lease, he will be paying a total of around 50 grand and he will be able to drive 3 brand new cars. Most importantly, not have to worry about any maintanence because it will all be under warranty. He will also recieve free oil changes for the first year or two on each lease depending on the deal, and he will also recieve free keys for each life of each lease.
On the other hand you will pay around 45k, and be driving the same exact car for 10 years. And have to worry about anything that breaks on the car after your warranty runs out. Which in 10 years can and will most likely be thousands of dollars in extra maintenance.
Just something to think about....
