How many people actually use 91 to top off a loaner??

100% agree with you. I always fill up the dealer loaner with 91.

I'm still waiting for JuicyG37's explanation of this fabled water based gas. It has to be the funniest thing I've ever read in this forum. DOMO

If the rental car requires premium gas, yes I do fill it up with that. If it requires regular then I use that. What's wrong with respecting other people's property?

The car has 2 knock sensors in the engine block, it will adapt to 87. not a big deal pal.

I believe that was his point about respectting other peoples property......

91 isn't too common in my area, I use 93 in the loaner. No, not 89. Yes, 93.

Let's put it this way. Are you going to put 87 in your car? Not a big deal pal!

Only time I've driven a premium fuel rental was for business so I gladly put premium in since it wasn't my money.

However, I always put premium in loaners. Is the extra $2 gonna break the bank pal? Then maybe you should be driving a Versa.

if by chance i put 87 in my bike or my G, or my maxima... im not going to request a meeting with a manager or to call the dealer lol. its not the end of the world- nor will damage occur to the car.
slight engine ticking and slightly more fuel consumption... thats it.

many private stations mix fuels- and no one even knows.

and 87 isnt dirtier compared to 92/93.
92/93+ having more octane just increases the temps slightly & larger, more efficient combustion of fuel/air mix in the cylinder, resulting in a slightly smoother/hotter, 3rd stage of the 4 cycles.(intake/compression/POWER/exhaust)

I agree that 87 is no dirtier than 89 or 92. The only difference is the amount of toluene which affects the knock resistance. Higher octane has a lower flashpoint which makes it burn slower and more controlled.

You might want to keep on putting 87 on your bike though. Even though bikes run at insanely high compression ratios, they also rev very high. A slow burning fuel might actually cause a power loss on the high end of the rpm band (11k+). I experienced this myself with my bikes, they actually ran better on 89 than with 92.

Do you have a turbo or any power adder? Because if it's a stock engine you're wasting your money with race gas.

Knee dragging is always fun but for real, you're wasting your money with race gas. I bet it's making your bike slower.
