Surprising comparison 07 Sedan to 10 Coupe

Traded in the 07 G35X sedan for a 10 G37 Coupe one year ago. I have concluded that the sedan seemed more powerful, and quicker than the newer, 30 more HP, 2010. The trans now has so many gears that you don't get that quick, out of the hole feeling....I am sure they went to this trans for MPG, but low end is suffering imo.

Gear ratios are not even close other than 5th and 6th on the 7AT. The first 3 gears are not close in geRing at all. First on the 7AT is a lot lower than first in the 5AT. It should feel a lot stronger out of the hole.

The sedan used to leap off the line, almost too touchy....The New Coupe takes it's time getting into 3rd...

Basically the higher the gear ratio (number:1) will produce much quicker acceleration at the expense of mph in that particular gear. A lower gear ratio will produce slower acceleration, but more mph in that gear. What also plays into the overall gearing of the car is the final drive, this also works the same way as normal gear ratios. The 7AT should produce better acceleration due to the more aggressive gear ratios and only slight reduction in final drive ratio. This is the advantage of having a trans with more gear ratios, you can get more aggressive in the lower gears, but leave the last couple of gears tuned for mileage.

The G sedan has always been faster than the G coupe. Why don't you coupe people just accept it.

yeah i drove my friends 07 sedan today while he followed in my car and I immediately noticed that his gas pedal was alot more sensitive than mine. This would give you the feeling that the car is faster but in all actuality its not. Just a simple tap on his gas pedal and the car launched forward. My car takes a little more pressure on the pedal to get that type of launch. But in the end my 2010 still had a faster acceleration. Just needed more pressure on the pedal than the 07 needed.
