changing oil every 7500 miles

i tried to look this up and couldn't really find any information on this. im currently at 8500 miles and at 10k i wanna go for Mobil 1 synthetic oil. so is changing oil every 7500 miles ok? i see lots of you do it Evey 5000 but that just doesn't seem to makes any sense to me since it states in the manual you should change every 3750 on im guessing regular oil so why would i put sythetic and only get 1200 miles more. so is 7500 miles to much? do i need the premium filter?

It really depends on your driving style, conditions, filter and oil.

I'm at that mark for changes, and will go 9k on the next one based on the analysis.

Also, Nissan recommends longer intervals if your driving conditions are relatively tame.

Best way to know the oil intervals for YOUR specific engine.

I believe you could hold this millage as long as oil level is OK and filter could hold dirt. I prefer 5K miles on synthetic oil.

I had the first 3,500 and 7,500 mile oil change done at the dealer because it was for free. Now I will change the oil myself at 7,500 mile intervals. My driving style falls under the 7,500 mile change, according to the owner's manual.
I've owned quite a few cars and most of those owner's manuals also had a separate severe and a regular oil change interval.
If you read the manual it lets you know how often to change your oil according to your driving conditions.
What a lot of owners don't seem to pickup on, under the conditions of severe usage,is the key word PRIMARILY.
So when you read the manual under the severe usage part it states when you PRIMARILY operate your engine under the noted severe conditions.

Congratulations. You are the 1,000,000 thread starter for this topic. Your reward is a swift kick to the face.

Instead of using the sh1tty search function this site has, just browse through the oil section

Even the cheapest batch oil will hold up under "spirited" driving for 3000 miles. Really good multi-weight oil such as mobil, castrol, pennzoil, etc. will certainly hold up for 5000 miles, even if you drive it like you stole it.

Full synthetic will be fine for 7500 mile changes, IMO.

I had a Nissan PU that I'd beat up... a 1/4 ton that carried 1200 lbs on occasion. Changed my oil every 5000 miles using regular old castrol and it was running great at 180,000 miles + when I sold it.

*disclaimer* I am not a mechanic, but I was a steam propulsion engineer for 8 years.

So what he started a new thread...
If it bothered you so much why did you open it and start reading? Did you not want to go to the oil section to read instead?

So let's say you don't drive that much, perhaps 5000mi a year. Does that mean you can change the oil once a year? Does oil go "bad" if you just leave it in the car for a period of time, w/o actually driving the car? I never understood the 3 months or 3750 miles "which ever is first" bit. Why should it be dependent on time, and not actual miles driven?

I use Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil and its filter.
I change every 3750 miles.
And most of the time, I drive calmly and do spirited driving once in a while.
Is this okay too?

Not really caring about the costs, but does it effect the car negatively in anyway?

I agree with hispeed look at his post count the guy has seen a million people start oil threads and they all get deleted or merged with the main one you should of looked in from the beginning... This thread probably won't last long
