I feel the certified ones are a little safer. It depends on how good you are with cars. I mean I have built cars so it would not bother me to replace a tranny but if you do not do your own maintenance you might want to go with a certified car.

I live in NJ and I have a AWD coupe and let me tell you, without the AWD there is no way I could have even attempted to drive some days this winter. The RWD might be a bad idea for a PA commuter.
I also live in NJ and I did just fine with rwd, even on all season tires... but I'm good at driving.

Btw, this isn't a sports car it's a Grand Tourer.
