Happened to me to
Hey man, so sorry about this. The exact same thing happened to me in the parking lot at work! I work in a very nice corp campus so it really blew my mind. The cops said this is one of the most heavily sought after cars America's most stolen cars - Infiniti G37 Coupe (5) - CNNMoney.com
Anyway, it cost me $500 deduct on my insurance. Since it was a break in attempt and not a moving violation or accident, my rates did not increase with Geico.
If you don't mind, may I ask what state you live in?

They were trying to break in. You bash the window in and you risk someone hearing.
Whether or not they were trying to steal the car, well that's debatable. 9/10 times they are just looking to clean your car out...but the G37 is the 5th most stolen car soooo
What the thieves do is they pull up next to your car (I assume you were in a parking lot), get out, and kneel down and try to work your lock with a special metal device or just a screw-driver. They have their boy in their car on look out.
I live in Northern New Jersey and know folks in Newark... in no way proud of that but it is what it is. They may have been going after something in your car ie GPS, radar detectors, laptops, or even just the ipod in the center console (my G has been broken into twice and all they got was a GPS and my iPod...but getting my iPod stolen was absolutely terrible!)
Make sure you don't have things out in the open.

My G was broken into last year as well, fVckers stuck something between the outside door panel and the window glass and pryed the door apart. Then they figured they couldn't open the door that ways and shattered the glass instead. Anyways, the shop that I brought my car to said that it's up to the insurance whether they'll replace or repair the door. Of course, Insurance companies will opt for the cheaper method. If u know the shop owner, tell them to tell the your insurance that you'll need a new door.

So I got my car back, the total damage was $1700, they didn't give me a new door shell and said it would be as good as new...
As someone who is very detail oriented, I could see the lines above the damaged area appear to not be 100% straight compared with the passenger side.. I'm not sure if this acceptable or what I should do now.. =( is this considered a good repair by normal standards and acceptable? or am I just being way too **** about it..
Check out the pics..
Original Damage
Passenger Side (Perfect)
Fixed Driver's Side
