I feel your pain. I had my new Lexus IS300 keyed about 2 months after I got it in college.
If you're looking to save a little, you could try asking your agent or insurance company to set your collision deductible at $1,000 or more, then set your comprehensive deductible at $250 or so (these are what I have on my G).
Vandalism would be covered under a COMP (comprehensive) claim. Other covered incidents include hit-and-run and hail. Most of what people refer to as "accidents" are COLL (collision) claims.

This is terrible. This happened to my boy up here in NY, right after he got his G, and the crappy thing is, they keyed his car, he got it fixed, then the next week they came back, put the **** symbol on his trunk, broke his tailight, and then keyed X2 into his drivers door. That really pissed me off.
!!But at least it wasn't as bad as nycmaxima's friend. That is even worse

Na he didnt deserve it, hes not a d-bag or anyhting hes a real cool kid. Someone was just pissed bc that was his first car and he was like 18 when he got it. He knows who did it its a kid thats our age.

I learned after someone shot both of my cars with a BB gun that its best to just not have a deductible on comprehensive. Its only costing me an extra $17/mo (Geico) and I won't have to shell out $500 a piece the next time some crap like this happens....

Oh man, this is so bad! Feel for ya, bro. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot the piece of **** who did this.
