cold start scare

I went to start up the G last morning, it was freezing cold and I had to spill a cup of hot water over the driver window because the door wouldnt open. Anyway I get in and start it up and it starts RIGHT AWAY at WOT. After the initial I looked down at the RPM it was dropping down from 6000. I am like 95% certain I didn't have my foot on the gas pedal at all. So Im driving to work on the highway and at speeds over 65 mph the car starts vibrating badly, as if it was in serious need of an alignment. I looked over at the passenger seat and the thing was shaking back and forth violently. Then on the way home 11 hours later the accelerator was extremely sensitive. I could just tap the gas and it would wide open, which almost launched me into the people in front of me on a few occasions in stop and go traffic. Now I just drove it tonight and had no problems whatsoever. Was my G just having a bad day, or do I have an issue?

Since it's running fine now I'd monitor for a repeat and make sure you're caught up on basic maintenance. There have been reports of temporary ECU insanity, turning the car off for a bit and restarting resolve and it never returns again. Never heard of WOT starts though, ususally it's RPM limiting and rough running which is usually a sign the car detected an error and entered fail-safe mode.

Gotta hate these isolated problems. There is nothing that the dealer can do about it. Even tho they happen rarely, it just take 1 occurrence to get you into an accident.

100% bone stock engine. It was around 25 degrees F. Its had no problems in colder weather, it was 4 degrees about a week ago on start up, although the battery died trying to start it up after the first major snow storm here in December.

My ECU has been reprogrammed at least 3 times, such quirky and dangerous RPM behavior. Completely intermittent and difficult to reproduce. Each time it gets reprogrammed it behaves nicely for a few months and then usually misbehaves again. So glad my lease is up next month!

Wow that's some dangerous stuff! I'd bring it in and explain what happened. Maybe a bad TPS or harness or ECU. I'd never drive a car if I didn't know when it would decide to go WOT on me.
