Yeah, I wouldn't ever take a car that had been test driven before, especially nicer cars. I read a while ago about salesmen in the US racing new GTRs before selling them!
As for the G, I also remember how hard it is not going past 4000 rpm on my 09 (I did redline it a couple of times before break-in), but I'm sticking to it as I just got a 2010. I don't really mind the lack of low end torque (relative) to be honest. It's irritating when the 335i guys flaunt their 300 ftlb at 1400 rpm, but we have a naturally aspirated engine, and that's just how it is. I like how linear our engines are though. The power at higher rpms and the sound is awesome.

I test drove a 2011 a couple of weeks ago. I actually requested to the salesman to drive one of the used ones so that I could push the car. I didn't want to abuse a new car out of respect for the car and the next owner. He said "it didn't matter, the engine was already broken in by the factory when they ran it for 15 miles",

I had approximately 700 miles on it. And yes it was brand new, well at least with a brand new price on it . It's at 70K miles now and havent' given me any grief at all. Where as, some cars like yours with minimal miles had problems. I'm not saying yours will, but I've heard stories on here. Go figure???
