I don't really mind the lack of low end torque (relative) to be honest. It's irritating when the 335i guys flaunt their 300 ftlb at 1400 rpm, but we have a naturally aspirated engine, and that's just how it is. I like how linear our engines are though. The power at higher rpms and the sound is awesome.
I feel the same way. I am all about the n/a engines at this point. I had a turbo charge subaru before buying the G and part of the reason I got rid of it was the turbo lag and the constant fear of the turbo blowing up!

I hear its ok to rev the engine to redline during break in once in a while, just so it gets used to getting to that point.

It's a piece of machinery, it doesn't "get used" to anything. Follow the manufacturer guidelines in the manual and you'll be fine.

Yes it does.

According to the manual of our cars. The break-in period is 1250 miles. We are not suppose to go over 4k RPM during this time.

What he said^^^

Read the manual, it tells all.

I was lucky, I test drove the sales managers car who picked it up 2 days before and already put the 1250m on it.
