How many gallons to fill up when your range blinks 'nought'

This past weekend, I was riding around, putting in 'break in miles', and had about 20 miles left on the 'range' indicator. Shortly there after, it starting blinking --- (nothing left). Likely after I hit some rough road.

Anyway, I filled up at the nearest station I could find, and I could only put in 17.6 gallons.

How 'close to 20 gallons' (tank size), are you actually able to take advantage of, or probably a better question. What's the most gas that you're been able to put into your G37, when you didn't actually run out of gas?

Yup, 17.somethign is the max I can get in. I have hit the -- -- for range a couple of times, so I think it must be pretty generous to give you about 2 gallons spare before you actually run out?

It's definitely designed to keep you from running out of gas.
