Certainly, Lexus IS250 is a great everyday car. But an everyday car is not what we are looking for. We are sports car buyers, so the amount of horse power a car have matter to us.

Sure, many of us won't ever need 330hp on the road, but how do you know if we won't take the car to a race track ? At least I know alot of people with the G37 do that as an hobby.

Which is why we came to an conclusion that by sports cars standard, the IS250 is not worthy.
I completely agree with you, but the OP does not obviously track his car, other wise he wouldn't be looking at an IS. He also does not care about horsepower, hence another reason he is looking at an IS250 :-)

And props to those who track their G, but it's too heavy for me for track use.

IS250 is a great car to drive, very smooth. A friend had one, but god it made those honda civic Si look fast. Go the lemon route if you are look for all around performance, if not the is250 is a great car.

I just went the other direction. Had an '07 IS250AWD for 3 years, and am now in an '09 G37x coupe. To me, the G looks way better and is much more fun to drive. The Lexus had more tech that I liked: illuminated kick plates, rain sensing wipers, mirrors that tilt down when car goes into reverse; I'm trying to add some of this. But I guess bottom line, I'm happier with the G.

A5 might be a little more $ but it is built a lot better than the G. If i could do it over again i would have kept the A4 or waited for the A5 prices to come down. Worth checking into.
I was looking at the A5 a while ago as well. The reason I got the G37 over A5 is that the A5 is way too unreliable.
Audi tend to break down alot even when new, and their maintenance cost is just a complete rip off(because of the parts being shipped in from Europe).
I can guarantee you that after you get past the factory warranty period, it will cost you over $3000 dollars in maintenance and repairs every years afterward.

That is true. I am just thinking that is the reason why so many people are defending the G37 over IS250.

Be sure you can handle the power loss. I recently had our IS350 serviced and they gave us a 250 loaner and that thing was SLOW! My wife even said she could never drive a 250 because it was so slow....

anh3 wants to switch to an IS250 because of poor reliability experience with the G. Don’t sell him how powerful and fun to drive the G. He is mad but not stupid and surely knows the difference between 204hp and 330hp. Convince him that G is just as reliable as the IS.

I have no issue with my G37x Coupe. Matter of fact the reason I bought the G was because of my ownership experience with the FX which I still drive to date as my winter car. I am happy with the value of the G and the quality of Infiniti as a brand.

I drove an ES350 for five weeks when my G was in for repair (accident with a deer). The ES (270hp) has little power and drives like boat. But more importantly I am not convinced that Lexus is more reliable. However, it is well recognized that Lexus has a better dealership network than Infiniti. I think that is part of your problem not having your G repaired to your satisfaction.

Shopping for a new car is an exciting event. Enjoy!

250 is an awesome everyday daily driver. I test drove one while looking for a car for the wifey and I was really impressed with it. I actually think the IS 2011 interior is an upgrade over the g37.

Performance felt usable while using the paddle shifters. It was nice to rev high and get that feeling of going fast. Handling also felt much better than a non sport G.

One thing I dislike is that the manual is considered Lexus base model. It would be nice if they offered more options.

I can support this claim.

With my G35+G37 I have own Infiniti G for more than 8 years with 0 problems.

Infiniti are as reliable as any cars on market in my opinion.

We haven’t had any problems with our ’06 IS250. Actually, it’s just right for my wife as she’s not a performance driver. So again, if you don’t need all that power, it may be a good choice. Here’s a pix of ours.

Well i know audi used to suck but my sister had an 07 a4 and i had an 08 a4 for 3 years, the only problem i had with the car was the ****ty tires they had which were continentals. As for the maintenence we both had the package so I didnt have to do anything but bring it in ever 4,750 miles about if not more. I beat the hell out of that car cause it was a lease and i even put regular gas in it for 2 years but i never heard a rattle or had any problem, maybe after x amount of years but i wouldnt know.

As for MPG how is everyone getting > 25mpg highway. As I said i drove 200 miles alone with two small bags and using cruise control at 75-80. I have never seen the avg MPG over 25 in my car. Is there anything I can do/buy to get better MPG?

The is 250 i say is a wrong choice. An is 350 is the better choice in terms of power and acceleration, now I know the 350s only come automatic, you will be surprised on how much power that car has comparing to a g37. For the lexus you will need a drop asap and wheals so that the car won't be considered a girl dd.
