Hmmm...well, I have to admit that I haven't changed mine, but I've swapped out shift ***** on so many cars and have never had a problem at all. Some shift ***** (usually aftermarket) do have have a small set screw near the base that needs to be loosened before removing the ****, but I don't think our stock shift ***** have one.
I'll have to see if I can loosen mine when I get home tonight.

soooooo after everything, i'm not crazy about the shift ****. LOL
Spent $40 bucks on getting my stock taken off at the dealership...not super excited about the way the new Momo shift **** looks. The feel of the original is definitely much better in my opinion. Also, the boot, has a small foam piece that is made to go right under the stock shifter so you can see the outline a little and i just dont feel crazy about it...what do you guys think?
I'm definitely considering selling the momo shift **** LOL

It looks too fat and out of place...too bad they jacked up your stock one...did they wrench it?
perhaps one of their other ***** like the f16, shadow, cobra, or combat shifter might be better suited...espeically with the black and metal, or carbon fiber and leather mixes

I just took my shift **** off with my bare hands and put it back too just to see how hard it was. I don't understand why they had to use a tool to **** up your stock shifter.
