I noticed this peeling and warping also on the edge of the cluster before actually searching in the forum, it's more subtle on my G though.... and I rarely ever have this car parked in the sun.
definitely a quality issue here.

This is such a poor design. I really wish Infiniti would redesign the replacement parts and use clips to hold the gauge cluster lid down, instead of tape/glue. This is how it is done in the EX35.
I've had two replacements already and it was much harder to get Infiniti to replace it the second time.
Infiniti are you listening...

After my first replacement, the plastics around the steering wheel column were all broken and scratched.
The second time I tried a different dealer and they were much better, nothing was broken or scratched. But they did have to readjust the column plastics because the power in/out and up/down for the steering wheel was rubbing somewhere (plastic on plastic)
Good luck!
Here is a photo of what mine looked like after the first replacement. All of the clips were broken and there were plastic pry marks on some parts:

I was pissed, they also scratched the crap out of the large plastic panel under the steering wheel, by your knees. And just to make things worse, the replacement lid didn't look new, it was already starting to lift on the left side. I escalated to the dealer owner because they ruined many other things during previous visits and they were still unresolved. After I got things somewhat sorted out, I left that dealer and found one that actually knows what customer service is.

for those of you with the "Styrofoam/grinding/tapping noise does it sound like this? was it replaced under warranty? i was just at the dealer today for it.. tech made it less noisy by replacing the spiral cable in the steering wheel but its definitely not fixed. should i ask if its possible to get the whole thing replaced under warranty? whole thing is ridiculous the tech took the little covers for the screws off the steering wheel and didnt replace them; one i found on the floor on the passenger side and the other is gone. if i didnt care about the interior i would have got a 370z not an infiniti it really is embarassing. if this keeps up i will never consider another

I know it sounds bootleg but if its peeling bad enough you can get some glue under...glue that bad boy down! i only say this because it seems the solution is to take it to the dealer and have them replace it again, and again, and again. And if not numerous times getting it replaced then you have to deal with a annoying sound you didn't have before, and still have the possibility of the dash popping up again I know superglue is anti "the infiniti way" but it does work

Same problem on my 08. Though about fixing it myself (with glue). Anyone tried with success?
My closest dealer is 1:10 away. Sounds like it will just happen again or worse.. new part will squeak/rattle.
Glue and clamp would be a nice option....but i'm a follower not a leader ....
