2010 G37x->I need some info on using the AWD

I just went thru the Owners Manual & could find NO ( other than some warnings) info on using the AWD in day to day driving on my 4 mo. old 2101 G37x Coupe.
----------
My Questions:
#1-> Can you activate the 'Snow' switch while car is moving or must you be stopped?
#2-> Can you use the AWD on dry pavement- or only on snow.
#3-> Can AWD be used when pavement is wet?
#4-> Are ther any web sites that have DETAILED info on the AWD system?
----------

Seems odd to me that Infiniti has no info on how/when to use this system!

Thanking you in advance for any help you can give me.

As I know AWD is all time ON, it is activated not all the time, but you can't control it computer does. I pressed Snow by mistake many times and drive fine, no harm. I believe it is ATTESA AWD system simmilar to GT-R, just google on ATTESA and you will get tons of info.

1. Yes, you can press the snow switch at any time.
2. You don't choose when to activate the AWD system, it's always on.
3. See answer 2.
4. Not that I know of.

Basically the AWD system send 100% of the power to the rear until it detects slippage, then power is sent to the front. In Snow mode the AWD system sends power 50/50 to the front and real up to 25 mph then it switches over to RWD.

Your dealer should have explained all of this. As mention above, just search for "Infiniti AWD" or ATTESA-ETS (there are several different ATTESA systems and the G uses the ATTESA-ETS system) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATTESA#ATTESA-ETS.

Not to be too nit-picky, but wouldn't the fronts kick in if it detects slippage from the rears?

Yeah that's right. Poor wording on my part. Thanks.

I've own infiniti awd G series for6 years now, from my experience, the awd(4wheeldrive) is only on when you switch to snow mode. And this only works under 12mph. If not switch to awd, the car itself is always on intelligent drive where power is mostly in the rear wheels except when road conditions causes the powers to shift to different wheels for better traction and handling. But i'm not 100% sure on this.

Intelligent AWD (ATTESA E-TS)
Benefits: Performance, Economy, Durability

Racing-inspired ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split) optimizes power distribution to help improve handling under various road conditions.

The system automatically directs power to the front axle and varies power distribution for improved handling under various road conditions.

Under normal road conditions, the system provides up to 100% rear-wheel power delivery for improved fuel efficiency.

Snow mode
Benefits: Safety/Security, Performance

Snow mode helps provide greater control when accelerating in snow or other slippery conditions by helping to reduce drive-wheel slippage.

Snow mode makes the throttle less sensitive by slowing the rate of throttle opening.
