A fool and his money are soon parted is very fitting for this thread.

Like knowing market value and doing your research. Just because you have the money doesn't mean you should spend it all. Thats how you go from rich to poor real quick.

A lot of people spend extra money for the convenience, and I don't blame you, but spending time on research and learning how to manage money and spend wisely is the key to financial success.

I'm not poor by any means, but I enjoy learning how things work and are put together.

Personally, I think if you can't change your own oil and fluids as well as filters, spark plugs, and brakes you should not be driving a car or calling yourself a man.

This is what I will do for my 30K service (really it's 35k now..)

Transmission fluid - bought 12 quarts + drain plug/washer for 3 drain/refill ($130 + $170 labor = $300) I guess it's as expensive as getting a transmission flush by the dealer at $300 but I felt it was safer doing drain/refill. Nissan issued a statement against flushing back in 2007 and it was listed as optional in the service manual anyway. Probably best if you can do this yourself so cut down the cost.

Differential fluid - bought 2 quarts of Redline + drain plug/washer ($35 + $50 labor = $85)

Power steering fluid - bought 2 quarts + parts for drain/refill via reservoir container ($40 + time)

Brake flush - $180 at the dealer..it's expensive but I'm getting new tires from the dealer so I wanted to get this done while I have the loaner car.

In-cabin filter ($20 + time)

Air filter (INJEN SRI - time to clean)

Coolant - nothing...will wait till 60,000 miles or maybe 45,000 if I want to do it earlier. From what I can see, Nissan recommend replacing this at 60,000 miles and then every 30,000 after that.

Misc - summer tires, wiper inserts, fixing my alignment, radiator cap, valve cover (more than I wanted to spend....)

Toal cost for 30K service only will be approximately $625...a little high but this way it's customized to my preference.
