Parking Brake under warranty?

I took my car, which is still under full factory warranty with 27k miles, to the dealership for a a rotor problem and parking brake adjustment. They warrantied the rotors but charged me $35 to adjust the parking brake. Is this not covered under warranty?

Free adjustment period is first 12 months in service. However, if dealer is already working on that aspect of car, it would benefit them as "good" customer service, to absorb the cost of that 5 minute adjustment.

Technically it's not a warranty item, but charging you for a parking brake adjustment is kind of cheesy IMO. As was pointed out, it only takes a couple of minutes. It seems like they are nickel and diming you instead of just doing it in the name of customer goodwill.

What rotor problem? I have been noticing my 08 with only 20k miles has been getting slight vibration under highway braking.

Is that covered under warranty or you think they'll consider the warping wear and tear?

Yeah there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) on this issue and is covered under warranty. They are either supposed to resurface or replace the rotors.

Black Betty,

I appreciate the input, I will send the service manager an email and let them know I'll be servicing my vehicle elsewhere from now on.

Good for you! I bet he apologizes and credits you for the "repair". Let us know.

Where can I find these TSB announcements so I can print off something to go into my dealership with?
