Considering making the jump to a G37

I currently own a vortech SC 03' G35 auto. Its modded for the occasional drag strip visit and spirited daily drive. I tried reasoning with myself that a 06' 07' G35 was the way to go, but now I see the 08 G37's are still under 30k, thus still really reasonable for me.

What insight can you all give me why the 08’ G37 is the way to go over the 06’ 07’. I would like to throw on a GTM sc or Stillen kit almost right away if I went this route. I own an auto now, because I don’t care to shift. I like the performance aspect on tap and use it around town, but i only occasionally go to the track.Auto with the paddle shifters, or is the manual a must?

<O</OThe other contender for me is an 07’ CTS-V. I just cant make the American made mental hurdle. But so much power an TQ to be had and it looks good too. I know there are other models like the 335i,S4 ETC., but I don’t want to get too carried away on maintenance costs.

<O</ODecisions, decisions.

Please help. any input is appreciated.

335 has no maintenance costs, get that. CTS-V is an animal, get that. The S4 is one of the nicest coupes under 60k, get that. You're on a G37 forum, sooooo most of us here have one, so get that too lol.

J/K I actually had an 06, then got the 08,09.. I think the styling alone is a reason to buy it. The power is a lot better than your current 03, brakes, wheels, interior, rear view camera. These are all reasons I personally upgraded from my 06 to 08. And you can most likely find an 08 still under factory warranty, and I believe the Stillen supercharger can be worked into that warranty if a dealer installs it. But the negative you will see is there will be A LOT less aftermarket parts offered for the 08-11 when compared to the 03-07. So with your supercharger plans you won't be able to build the motor up as strong as your 03, I don't think any aftermarket internals are even out.. pistons/rods/crank/ nothing.

My 03's engine is stock. All i have is a few boltons and the vortech the way it comes. Which a stock engine can handle. I make great power, nothing overkill. I’ve had this car this way going on 3 years now
The styling is much better, you’re dead on, especially the interior. What I’m really after is how the auto trans shifts. Is it sharp, sloppy or quirky? I put a shift kit in my 03' and it made a world of difference. No manual, but good.

Test drove a few cars, G37 is my fav and is what i'll be trading up to. I didnt like the 09' 6mt, however. the Shifter was nice and notchy, but the clutch and drive didnt feel like it fit the car; jerky. I was way more comfortable with the paddle shift auto(08'). Shifted quick and fit the style of the car. I know the 09' auto is 7 spd, but those sealed fluid trannys are probably not going to take mods as well, right?

Thanks.
