I would absolutely buy the G again. The only thing I would do different is get the sport model - I have the Journey coupe with premium and nav in MW.

i checked consumer reports about 2008 g37s and 2009 g37s. 2008 has lots of complains and problems but at 2009 model looks like everything is fixed...

Latest reliability study out today, I think. Page 9 has the list. I think the G was on the cover of consumer reports last year.

I can't open the and PDF files on my comp for whatever reason, so sorry if this is what was in the above post

Consumer Reports: 2010 Reliability scores as predictable as Asian cars are... reliable — Autoblog

For 2010, Infiniti as a whole is #4, although the G coupe is their least reliable model, although they don't have many models to begin with so not sure how much that is worth. Look how poor BMW, MB and Audi are (and good Porsche is)! I think compiled data such as this is probably much more relaible than anecdotal expereince from members on the forum, though I wouldn't discount their advice alltogether either.

I would buy it again but only if it offered much more horsepower like the V-8(420HP) engine in the M56. 330 isn't **** for all the MuscleCars and sports cars out there today. There are SUVs that will smoke the G LOL!

I would also recommend not to buy a new model or redesign the first 2 years out. Studies show in all cars/makes/models that this always has issues. Most complaints here about the G37 are for 2008 some 2009.

Im still pissed about that, wear and tear my a-hole.. and the fact that the $2400 + free maintenance w/BMW over 3yrs is prob the same as the difference in price from a g37s to a 335i, hind sight, i should've gone with a 335i. Yes, 335i has it share of problems, but BMW wouldnt have told me wear n tear on a clutch after 17K miles...they would have replaced it under warranty, no questions asked. So come end of January '11, I will make a decision between 2011 335i, A5, or G37s coupe again.
Trust me you won't be disappointed with the 2011 335. I have one and although I miss the sexy lines of my G coupe, my 335 has been rock solid so far with 10k miles on it (FWIW I have the N55 motor with the bigger single turbo). I even get an average of 28 mpg on the highway! The interior may not be as luxurious as the G's but the materials are of a higher quality. My G will always provide fond memories, but I believe I made the right choice

While I would also like to have the V-8 in the G, I think that the car would be better off losing 300 to 400 pounds. This would greatly benefit handling as well.

I would buy the G again but in a 6MT. I have a 2008 G37S 5AT and I feel like the auto is holding back the car's performance. Really regret getting the auto so my better half could drive it (which she dosen't). Other than that, I love the G.

i would, only if I didn't want to spend more money. I'm willing to spend more money on my next car so I'd probably be buying something else.

but at the 35-40k spec Can't beat the G.

I have the 6mt, and I feel I would be better off if I got an auto. The 6mt in this car does not belong in a 40k price range and I've had a loaner auto for a week now since my car has been in for warranty work again, and I enjoy it a lot more. Grass is always greener :-)

Preference.....

IMO:
if you want a well rounded car for 40k get the G coupe.

More horsepower?...get another car.
Want a german car?...then do it.
Want to spend more?...then your more than welcome to.

I've looked at many cars other than my current 2011 G coupe. Audi, BMW, Acura, Lexus, and Cadillac. I've even looked at the 370z and the camaro.

I decided to to with the G because of Infiniti's growing brand reliability, standard features, and overall great price.

I personally hate german cars. Yes, you get power and performance BUT it comes with a price. Higher up front costs and higher maintenance. Most of my friends who have had BMWs ended up selling them 2-3 years later because it was garbage to them.

The only time i would consider buying a BMW is that if i still have my G, i had the money to spend, if i suddenly change my opinion of german cars, and that I would only have if for 2 years....OR i can just have my G WITH the extra money and keep it for a long time....

The only one I would consider is Audi. Then again, the price for an S4 with comparable features for a G37xs coupe is about 10k more...so thats a no for me.

....your preference.
