3 weeks later: New engine, new exhaust, new wheels? :D

End result was that the engine was replaced. Car is running better than when I first purchased it and even feels more powerful.
Anyway, since the start of the summer I've been messing around with the idea of designing, yes... designing... my own exhaust. Axel-back to start and then so on. I've made exhaust systems for a few of my cars before including my turbo'd Honda Jetski with a lot of success so I figured what the hell. While the car was in the shop, I took my measurements from before and went to town. Ordered my parts and after 3 days of work... my results:
I just got back about an hour ago so I apologize for the dark pictures. I tried lighting them up with a shop light and this was the best I could get them. With a cell phone camera also.
The actual canister mufflers are Universal Apexi GT-Spec (Size M) with 2.50" piping from the axel bolts on out. Exhaust tips at 4.25" from FED Exhausts. The sound is ABSOLUTELY amazing.
I told my friend I wouldn't take credit for the entire deal because this was originally inspired from him buying a cheap-o-exhaust from ebay (with a similar design) that had HORRIBLE fitment, a finish that looked like it was dragged on the pavement, and sounded like garbage. So here ya go, thanks Steve. :P Thanks to Pete's ABR in Chicago for letting me use his shop and for helping me with the welding.
I also tried out the black on black look of my wheels with some plasti-dip and I couldn't be happier with the results. LITERALLY 3 hours and they were done and back on the car. I did a can per wheel for a nice coat.

Glad to see you got some sort of resolution on your previous problem. Keep your fingers crossed that nothing else happens with your engine... On a lighter note, your exhaust looks sweet! Forget the vids of rolling shots, let's hear some exhaust rumble!! (maybe then you can start sellin'em ) Best of luck bro...

Parts and the few dollars I threw to my friend for letting me use his shop for three days ran under $250.00. I used a high grade stainless steel (SUS 304) since I wanted to match the steel grade of the cans.
I dunno, since I put these on I've had now 4 people ask me what exhaust it was and where did I buy it. Nothing but compliments. I have yet to hear the Tanabe Med-touring exhaust in person but one of the people said mine sounds similar but with a "sportier" sound. It's so hard to replicate the sound of an exhaust via the web... even videos don't do it justice.
I'd be willing to make 3-5 sets for cheap if people were up to purchasing them.

Highway drone: Zero in 5th and 6th gear. Absolutely NOTHING in 6th gear going 80mph+
Rasp: None at all.
Too loud?: It's louder than stock, that's for sure. However, I think it's just right. It sounds very mean but smooth at the same time. My favorite part of it is the gargle on the underun and when downshifting... sounds super sexy.
I have some time now so I'll go out and take some more videos.
How much are Tanabe's going for now? $500-700? Also, while it only cost about $250 in top grade parts... it took 2.5 days to complete because I wanted it to be JUST right.
