Just got my new, thicker Steering Wheel!
When I First bought my G, there were only 2 things that bothered me
(1) The vague clutch pedal and (2) The skinny steering wheel. (I have big hands, so I've always preferred a thicker wheel)
I fixed #1 by removing the clutch pedal spring (Thanks to the DIY post)
So, then I decided to focus on #2.
I looked at several options, and eventually decided to get my wheel re-wrapped with thicker padding. If I did this, though, I would be without my car for however long it took to get done...this wasn't going to work.
So, I hunted around and found a used wheel, sent that to Dallas Steering Wheel with the primary intention of thickening the grip....but...since it was already there, I decided to go two-tone black and interior matching stone leather.
It finally came today, and I just finished up the swap and took it for a spin. I couldn't be happier!
It feels sweet! The leather feels so good to the touch and the grip is perfect now.
Just thought I'd share.

Nice, but that's so thick that it actually looks funny in those interior shots.
I have big hands too (and long fingers), but I'm not sure if I'd like a thicker steering wheel or not.

Like the two tone leather and the extra thick wheel.
The OEM leather on the wheel is like plastic, even after two years of use.
Think I'll take the same approach...but haven't pulled a wheel in a lot of years.

1) I didn't ask about CF or flat bottom, but you could give them a call, Don at dallas steering wheel was very helpful
2)Yup, I found that the M3 wheel was the perfect size for me, and this is just about the same.
3)I got it for just over $400, if I just wanted it re-wrapped with better leather, and standard padding, and single tone then I think it would have been just over $200
4)I like kiddie steering wheels
5)It IS all about girth
6)After taking it on a 2 hour drive this morning, the OEM wheel now feels like sandpaper. It is really simple to remove the wheel, probably one of the easiest things you can do to improve your satisfaction (if you're not happy with the OEM wheel, that is).
