I went with it. I got the 6 years, 100k coverage, and yea I paid some ish for it, but for the little electronic issues I've already encountered and some other things, I'm happy I do have it. Who knows what might act up with in the next years to come!

SO your getting 2 years and 40k extra miles of coverage for around 2 grand. The first question you have to ask yourself is, Do you really see yourself useing those extra miles? Are you a pretty agressive driver? Has your car given you troubles before? was it used? all these things play into effect. American Auto Sheild can offer our g37 with a extra 5 yrs or 100k miles from anywhere to 3393 to 3093. Depending on the miles it can be "new car" coverage or something less like Full Comp. covers drivetrain electrical, fuel, ect.

Also another thing that come into play is do you plan on moding the car at all? Dealerships are different everywhere you go. some dont care about minor mods and some do. I know American Auto Sheild wont even allow upgraded rims. Everything on the car has to be OEM.

Good luck with you and your decision and hope everything turns out for the best.

You will not know whether it is worth it until after 6 years / 100k has passed. The majority of the literature surrounding extended warranties usually indicates that you shouldn't purchase it. However, it's an insurance policy and hindsight is 20/20.

Ask yourself the following questions:

1) Will you keep your car for the life of the extended warranty? (You will most likely NOT get the value out of your extended warranty if you sold the car)

2) If Yes to # 1, divide either 6 years or how much you drive per years into the price of the warranty ($1,975) and that will break down the price on a more palatable level. Here, you'll get a better idea of the true cost of the extended warranty.

Just keep in mind, that at the end of the day, you are buying peace of mind. It's up to you to determine whether the cost is worth it. These are big investments, so I can't disagree at all with your decision to purchase the extended coverage.

Hope this helps.

through experience ive always ran out of warrantee just after something goes wrong. if the extra 2grand or whatever it costs isnt going to cause any tension, id say just go with it. think twice, spend once.

Here is the way I look at it. Dealerships coverage are not the way to go. Isnt the point of having insurance like this to protect you from having to pay 1-3grand all at once? so why would dealerships force you to pay for the warrenty in full. As well as the dealership has the right to decair whatever they want to deny any claim they want. Yet alone they have the ability to charge you anywhere from 100-150 bucks an hour. With those labor rates an average repair for our cars is easily 1k dollars. If you were to call American Auto Sheild you would be able to get what we call a Pay as you go option which allows you to pay the coverage off while still being able to use it. After your initial payment the coverage is active in 30 days 1000 miles. Keep up with your general maintence and they have no reason to deny any claim. and your budeting yourself around small monthly payment rather than having to come up with 2-3k for coverage all at once.

Example:
Total cost=3093
Downpayment=195
18 monthly payments=161

after 18 months you have over three years of coverage your really not paying for...

Hope this helps some of you out.

Thanks guys for the info! My last car was a lexus and when i traded it in, it had 160k on it....never a problem. So kinda new to the extended warranty world.

I have a intake on it now, the most i would do later is exhaust....but that would be it. Its a daily driver.

sounds like its better to keep for piece of mine, I guess it has a $0 ded, and car rental to boot

You can decide to get AAS coverage when the car is new but wouldnt be the best decision. let the dealership take care of a new car. but once your factory coverage is out its good to go to an outside party like American Auto Sheild. There are alot of other administrators out there like Consumer Care Direct, Gold Key, Royal, ect.
