I had no choice at that time. Pushing it out of driveway was my best option. No other cars can get to me for a jump. What harm can it do?
It's because you're supposed to trickle charge a dead battery. When the alternator gets going, you're supplying a lot more amps than you would to trickle charge the battery.
Generally, it reduces the battery life, and can possibly even kill it completely.
I did this on my bike before... it literally killed the battery; the battery wouldn't hold a charge at all anymore.

Damn, lol! Sorry OP! I hi jacked your thread haha.
Since that incident I have gotten a brand new battery from my dealer under warranty, no problems with this one so far! Thanks for the info!
That's why I went with a yellow top. Too bad I did that like a week before the TSB came out.
i was this close getting one and luckily i was broke at the time lol. then i brought my car to the dealer and they finally agreed that my battery is dead and gave me a new revised battery.
I got sick and tired of jumping my car so I started to push start it in either R or 1st or 2nd (depending how fast I got it going). Finally the dealer performed the TSB on my car and NO MORE PROBLEMS!!!
