Soon to be G37 owner with a question

Hey guys, been creepin on this forum for a while now and finally decided to join up. I've focused all my research on the '08 G37S but now have an opportunity to get an '09. Figured I'd get some advice from the pros, are there many differences in terms of user experience with the 09 over the 08 (iPod interface, GPS interface, etc). I'm looking at Navi, sport, and obviously premium package.

I know there isn't anything in terms of looks but thought there might be some tweaks inside.

Thanks for the help!

Get the 09. Less issues, better resale, 7 speed AT (if you get an auto).

The heated seat controls are different, there is scratch guard paint, and more durable material around the steering wheel controls and door handles on the 09's. One of the biggest differences is the auto transmission if you go that route. It is a 7 speed versus a 5 speed. I won't debate which is better as that has been beaten to death but they both are good.

The Nav and ipod interface is the same. Those changed in 2010.

The only other things I can mention is that there were a few minor issues with the 08's like batteries and muffler rattles. There were also issues of seat bubbles on both years and brake judder with the 08's and early 09's. All of these items should be covered by warranty anyway.

I think you can't go wrong with either year personally.

The advantages of getting an 09', like bluecoupe stated, is that you will have a better transmission (7 speed), better resale value (if that implies to your future), and les issues which there are a SHET load on the 08's. As far as interface, I think they are the same for the 08's and 09's. The only major upgrades occurred for the 10' coupes. So in other words... GET THE 09 because it gets some minor revamps.

Thanks guys, great advice especially since I was going to be going with an automatic as well. I was wondering about the better material as well, noticed on a lot of '08s the metal on the **** and door was easily scratched.

Also, BHB 91 do you have any pics of your car on here. The one I'm looking at is Amethyst Gray as well.

My driver door handle was scratched at delivery. The lot guy had a big a$$ watch.... 09's look better as far as continuity of theme.

Thanks! I have had it 9 months now and really have not done much to it. I love it the way it came. I had the windows tinted and added LED's to the entire inside and that is about it. The tints make the car look so much better.

Yeah I don't plan on doing much more than tint and possibly some air intakes. They just come so nice there isn't much need to do more. What kind of LED mods did you do if you don't mind me asking?

I bought most of mine from V-LEDS. They have great stuff. 2008G-Man started a very useful thread in the lighting section and I went with most of what he used as I wanted pure white lights. I also installed the ambient lighting kit from the dealer and all of it goes together very well.
