lease return.. need help

everyone is going to have different experiences.
the dealership can ding you for everything you did to the car... it's written in the lease.
if they don't find it at the time you return the car, you're free and clear cause most dealerships have to re-condition the car anyways before they list it as a used car. most people swear by taking it to a body shop before returning a lease, other people will say it didn't matter....
it really depends on the dealership. you might want to ask if anyone has had exp with your specific dealership. it's written explicitly in your contract what they're going to hit you for. and the bills are at their rate, not the best rate. so it can be very expensive if you don't take care of it before you return it.
If you're opening another lease, they'll probably let you slide. if you're returning the vehicle w/o another transaction they'll do whatever within their power.

I can't understand how some people think that Carmax or a dealer is going to give you what they will sell it for. They are buying the car at wholesale prices and selling it for market value...and market value changes daily.
If Carmax offered you 30% less than what you sold it for...it's because YOU sold it. It's not because they are ripping you off, this is how the world works. Walmart buys your tampons for $1 and sells them to you for $5.
The dealer will also low ball the crap out of you, which is why you should know what the car is worth and TELL them what you want. If you let anybody make your deal for you...you'll pay more than you should and get less than you should.
