Have had zero problems with mine other then a rattling muffler that was replaced under warranty and slightly leaking windows that were adjusted under warranty. No other issues with the car and would recommend to anyone. That being said, everyones car is different as was previously mentioned.....

I've owned an 08 since it's release and here is what I've dealt with:
rattling muffer - taken care of via TSB
RPM surge - taken care of via TSB
high pitch metallic rattling sound coming from somewhere on the driver side dash - not taken care of

In the end if you can find a good mileage and condition 08, there's no reason not to pursue.

Some of us have had battery problems. There is a TSB on this instructing the dealer to replace the battery with one that has a larger capacity and replace the valve assembly control which is known to be part of the problem. There are various threads on this issue.
Additionally, some of us with AT have had the ECU reprogrammed to correct a slight surge when coming to a stop. There are threads on this also.
Other than those two, I’ve had no issues with my ’08.

- Had my dead battery replaced, although I had to pay the prorated price
- Replaced driver's side seat bottom
- Fixed ticking noise from dash
- Squeaking when braking while reversing...they've done temporary fixes, but it always comes back.
- Radio presets would get stuck on certain sequences, as well as navigation freezing from time to time. Got that fixed via TSB.
The only thing I haven't gotten addressed is an RPM surge (on 6MT though) that I get once in a while. I haven't been able to reproduce it lately, but it's really annoying since it becomes hard to shift smoothly. That and the exhaust rattle I probably need addressed as well once I put my stock exhaust back on.

Bought my '08 used. Before buying the car, the rear muffler and the transmission were both replaced under warranty.
what still annoys me is:
-High pitch electrical whining noise, sounds like ground loop feedback but coming from the engine bay?
-Vibration in the brakes/steering wheel
-Slight pull to the right
-Semi-loud throw-out bearing noise
I dont know if any of this is warranty but i will have the dealership take a look at it this week.

What is this self healing paint you speak of lol
Seat heater hi/lo switch became adjustable pot in 09+, door handle aluminum is easily scratched on 08, replaced with more durable part in 09+ (which you can order for $75). 08's have mirror compass, 09+ don't. Some 08's still have extended voice command set, most 08+ don't. 09+ has self healing paint.

Nissan develops self-repairing paint — Autoblog
I've heard more negative then positives about this, personally I'd rather whip out the buffer.

- The paint is softer and mars easier
- Only last about 3 years
- Requires polish designed for scratch guard clear coats.
- Once a scratch is fixed that area can't fix again.

What are these extended commands vs non-extended?

Just extra voice commands, like the ability to set air conditioning temp via voice. Honestly if you have them great, if not... you're not going to miss them. GPS you can still do on all cars via voice, and that's actually the only thing I do use voice for, most everything else is done on the steering wheel controls.
