Am I hurting my baby?

I just bought her about four days ago and I have been driving her hard . She's probably at about 300 miles so far. Should I be concerned about hurting the engine and star driving like my grandpa for a while?
Any input is highly appreciated

It's really up to you. Sure the manual says to keep her easy until 1200, but some studies have shown otherwise. A lot of people will tell you to drive it like you will, on a daily basis. I started revving past 4k with around 600 miles on her. I've taken her up to 7k (a little short) so far and I'm a little past 2,000 miles (i put 2,000 miles on her in 2 weeks -_-). Good luck and have fun!

Oh and congrats on the purchase!

Your engines gonna blow up in 200 miles because of what your doing.

Jk. Your fine. Its up to you. I had 12 miles on the odo and i babied it till I hit 1.5K. But thats just me. I just hit the 30k mark today and the car runs great!

i would stick with the manual. there is a reason they specifically tell you to keep it at a set limit. i know that you will see other things online about breaking in engines, but until i see actual data on the newer engine styles, why risk it. heck, if something were to go wrong, you would not be voiding your warranty. just my thoughts. no expert here though.

Don't worry, you are fine. Once upon a time it did actually help to baby it but that's really not the case anymore. In fact, these days it's probably better to drive it pretty hard to set the rings in solid. Yes, I know that comes with other risks but given the tolerances on the cyl are so tight in modern cars, I don't think it is noteworthy.

If the rings haven't seated in the first 30 seconds, they never will.

I've had 4 VQ engines over the past 5 yrs. Each one I drove like I do normally. Not babying it, but "tried" to keep it under for 4K for the first 1200 miles. Never had any problems.

I drove the car like it was a racecar when I first got mine with 14 miles on it.

Just don't shake her when she cries. Shaking a baby is never a good idea.
