Auto-Door Unlock Question

Hey Guys,

have a Jap Spec Skyline V36 (G37) ....

was just wondering, i was under the impression that (similar to lexus) the infiniti's unlock as you come towards the car.

My car you need to press the rubber button on the door handle to get it to lock/unlock...

is this the same with US market? Or does it auto-unlock/lock at a set range?

You have to press the button on the handle to lock/unlock without using the key fob or key. There is no auto unlock. There are some threads about the windows automatically going down inadvertently however and the risk of the risk of theft.

Not sure about any kits like that. KP tech would be the place to check. I think if you use the key to close the door and hold it in the locked position the windows will roll up. I've not tried that tho.

I have an IS350 and the doors do NOT unlock just by walking up to the vehicle. The puddle lights come on but to unlock the doors you have to physically touch the handle (you don't have to press the button on the handle like with the G however)....

Walk up auto unlock would be a nice feature.

What I am shock that the G does not offer is:

-Auto lock doors at certain speed. My 2003 4runner and most cars do this. You would think the G would.

-Auto lock the doors, when the car is parked/turned off and the key leaves the vehicle.

Surprised infiniti was so far behind the ball on this very common feature. Its a pretty basic saftey feature found on many if not most vehicles.
