30K Service

What's the prevailing thought on the 30K service as it pertains to Belt Replacement and Cooling flush, needed or overkill?

I plan on doing the Auto Trans and Diff. fluids as I want to put Royal Purple in.

Inspect them... If the belts need to be changed, do it. Otherwise it is overkill.

good question though... has anyone here actually needed to replace them at just 30k?

unless you are following the premium maintenance, you are never really told to replace the belts or fluids... just inspect. you just have to check urself if are trying to DIY.

im comin up to 45k, prolly shd change the trans fluid and coolant... and diff?

Well I just saw a disclaimer in the manual about any other tranny fluid than official Nissan and you could damage the tranny and void warranty. Scare tactics or is there something unique about the G tranny? I would think Royal Purple would be better than any Nissan fluid.

I just came back from my service guy (not Nissan/Infiniti) and he looked up capacities (manual doesn't list) and for the 2008 Journey RWD he quoted 3 pints/1.4liters for Differential and 10.8 quarts for the auto transmission but he said their machine uses 16quarts and pumps extra through to flush.

He felt belts and coolant were probably overkill, but would inspect.

Just saw this on the Royal Purple web site: (edited to just show Nissan)

Max ATF is recommended in vehicles requiring any of these automatic transmission fluids:

* Nissan: Matic-D, Matic-J, Matic-K

Guess we are good since it says Matic-J in the manual

I see Infiniti calls for 80W-90 Differential fluid but Royal Purple only has 75W-90 (unless I want to get a 5 gallon container). Can't imagine 75W not being suitable.
