Silly 09+ G37S coupe 7AT question
Hey everyone. I used to have a G35S sedan RWD and now have a G37xS sedan AWD. I might have a chance to get out of my lease early so i am considering getting a new coupe. I have test driven a 2008 coupe (both auto and stick) and was a little dissapointed with both off the line, they are so beatifull but felt heavy and a little slugish. With the new 7AT I assume they launch better.
I have driven a friend's 08 G35S RWD Sedan and that thing launches like a bat out of hell, peels out like a muscle car and even fishtails (all on dry pavement with traction control off). My car on the other hand, feels slower off the line becasue it boggs, but it actually isn't. Side by side mine is about the same as his or a little quicker. My car can sometimes chirp second and I hear 09+ RWD 7AT sedans chirp second regularly.
Anyway, long story short: What happens when you take off traction control on the 09+ G37S RWD 7AT auto sedan and just punch it? What's the launch like? Does it have enough power to peel out? CHirp second? etc.
I know its kind of a silly question, but I know some of you must have tried it a couple of times I tried to find a video on youtube but no luck. Thanks.

Hmm, to be honest, I thought there was something wrong with the one I drove, but i am telling you from a dead stop it could no peel out at all. Not even a sqeek. lol
I remember your car from the G35NYC meet.

With that said, for maximum acceleration, you don't really want to be peeling out anyway.

You are right, but I have never seen an 08 5AT coupe chirp second and the one in that video is no different. Many 09 sedans do so I was wondering about 09 7AT coupes.

I've chirped 2nd in my 5AT but only on rare occassions- less so now that I have wider tires. You wont chirp 2nd at will in the 08 AT. In the 09 AT you can do it more often particularly if you are in a slight turn and in a version w/o LSD. That's because the TC locks up more in the 7AT and thus the gear engagement is more direct.

Alex,
If spinning the tires or chirping them between gears is your goal, just get yourself the 6MT and call it a day. There's no problem at all ripping the hell out of second gear. And you can rip the tires to shreds if you want from a dead stop. It's all about the driver on a MT car.
